Firm Profile

Rooted in tradition, grounded with principle, propelled by innovation.

WKMC has been designing solutions to challenging building problems throughout Texas and the nation since 1953. Under its second generation of ownership and management, WKMC continues a tradition of superior client service and imaginative design. From initial beginnings in facilities for churches and schools, the firm has expanded its repertoire to include such building types as residential (single and multifamily), corporate offices, banks, laboratories, and retail (including government commissaries).

Our clients have always challenged us to provide a broad range of services while simplifying the process of design and construction for them. WKMC has responded by adding capabilities in design-build, Building Information Modeling, sustainability, program management, construction management, and facility management.

Our clients stick with us – repeat business makes up 80% of our work every year.
We value work that contributes to the creation of a healthy, sustainable world.
Your experience is our highest priority. Our team is as personable as it is talented.

CLIENT-DRIVEN DESIGN

WKMC operates from the premise that our clients are our partners in design. Our clients challenge us to interpret and shape their needs and their vision into functional, economical, attractive facilities.

A Positive Approach to Planning and Design

Research has demonstrated that the life cycle costs of owning and operating a physical plant averages seven times the initial construction cost. As building owners in virtually all businesses and industries have discovered, it is imperative to achieve the greatest performance, at the lowest practical cost, in all of their facilities. WKMC takes a pro-active approach to planning and design, which results in maximizing the long-term value of investments in all types of buildings.

Building Relationships

Through continuing long-term relationships, we work to become a valued resource. As we gain experience with each client’s unique organization, we are better able to customize services and procedures to best serve them. This leads to lower costs of services, more rapid response, and reduced demand on the client’s management team.

An integral objective of our practice is to enjoy a substantial amount of repeat work from our clients. We have been successful at fulfilling that objective – commissions from repeat customers account for more than 80% of WKMC’s annual projects.
