Mircovich Elementary is a state-of-the-art elementary school in a small coastal community. The facility was designed to foster learning as well as a sense of belonging for students and parents. Many student safety and security considerations were included in the design.
The school houses 33 classrooms, a library, cafetorium and full-service kitchen. All library furniture and shelving were specified as part of the scope of services. This library and computer learning center serve as the hub of this campus. The elementary school library integrates appropriately scaled furniture and fixtures with the campus management plan.
A south Texas coastal vernacular design makes this elementary school particularly neighborhood friendly. Driveways are routed around existing stands of live oak trees. An existing pond at the northern corner of the site was saved to preserve the natural wetlands habitat.
