In association with Richter Architects
West Oso ISD selected WKMC Architects in association with Richter Architects to design a new 135,000 SF, 650-student High School Complex. WKMC provided planning, programming and design.
Student access to landscaped courtyards is secure and easily monitored. All classrooms incorporate natural light. Cafeteria, Library and Art Rooms all face the protected courtyards with generous use of natural light. The school also includes two Gymnasiums and a variety of support spaces including weight training, dressing rooms, offices, storage, training and spectator facilities. The campus is located immediately adjacent to the existing practice fields and football stadium. New parking supports after-hours sporting events.
The design team worked closely with community members, faculty, administration and the Board of Trustees to incorporate users’ requirements. The project was organized around a large outdoor plaza and designed to provide a safe and secure environment. It was constructed utilizing the Construction Manager-at-Risk contract process.
