Landscape Architect: RVI Planning
WKMC Architects teamed with RVI Planning, an Austin design firm, to master plan and design the Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve and Learning Center in Corpus Christi, Texas- a living, breathing ecosystem where visitors can connect with nature.
Design goals for this 162-acre nature park included creating a self-sustaining development implementing sustainable consumption principles. Building orientation, careful use of shading, solar panels, and insulated concrete plus many other ‘green’ details were built into the design.
The design process began with an Integrated Design ‘Eco-charrette’ during which a BIM model for sustainable building and landscape design were developed.
