EGC, a manufacturer of high performance components, needed more space and more efficient space in a hurry at their Humble, Texas manufacturing plant. WKMC designed 139,700 SF of new construction and 7,225 SF of remodeled office space, and then constructed the project under a Design-Build contract.
The project started with an intense 10-day charrette in order to expedite a compressed, fast-track construction schedule. The client had critical deadlines and could not afford a prolonged interruption in operations. The additions and renovations were completed in only 14 months – 30 days ahead of schedule. This work included inventory, relocation and start-up of approximately 3,000 pieces of manufacturing equipment ranging in size from only a few hundred pounds to nearly 40 tons.
